The Inpatient Rehabilitation program at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte offers comprehensive rehabilitation services for patients affected by stroke, head injury, amputation, multiple trauma, neuromuscular disorders, as well as many other illnesses and injuries requiring a coordinated intensive therapy approach.
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is a 20 bed unit located on the second floor of Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Staff
Our staff of inpatient rehabilitation physicians and specialists provide treatment based on an inpatient basis, and help meet the medical needs and treatment requirements for those patients who require special needs.

This is the only licensed and CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit in Charlotte County.
What is Inpatient Rehabilitation?
Our inpatient rehab facility is designed to provide ongoing care for those patients who require extensive recovery from life-altering physical and neurological conditions.
Our goal is to provide our patients with the comprehensive treatment they need to make a healthy return back to their normal lives.
All of our physical therapy and occupational therapy programs are designed to help each patient and their families make healthy progress toward a full recovery.

Through our comprehensive inpatient rehab program, patients are able to restore their physical and cognitive abilities through a combination of therapies and recovery techniques.

The goal with stroke recovery through rehabilitation is to re-learn basic skills that were taken away.
This involves daily tasks like eating, getting dressed and learning how to walk again.
Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation
Successful rehabilitation from spinal cord injury often involves a multi-disciplinary approach and cohesive team work from your team of therapists and physicians.
Physical therapy for spinal cord injuries often involves functional rehabilitation and a focus on upper extremity functional restoration.
Physical Rehabilitation/Physical Therapy
Physical rehab and physical therapy help patients regain their physical functionality and improve their fitness level.
The goal with physical therapy is to make daily tasks and activities manageable again.
Occupational Rehabilitation/Occupational Therapy
The goal with our occupational therpay program is to help our patients achieve independence and to become productive again.
Our therapists use “occupations” or work, care and leisure to strengthen development and independence.
We also provide comprehensive and effective therapy for:

Patients may request their physicians or caseworker to initiate a referral. Rehabilitative services are covered by Medicare and may be covered by other insurances if the patient meets admission criteria.
